Book Blitz: Rum And Raindrops by Jean Oram

Synopsis

One nature guide. One accidental forest fire. And one steamy investigator hot on her tail.

Jen Kulak's good at running from her problems, so when she finds her best friend and boyfriend in bed together she burns rubber, never looking back. When Jen finds the quirky town of Blueberry Springs, she finally feels as though she's found a place she can call home, settle in, and get to know herself. With help from her boss, she rediscovers her love of nature and begins giving wilderness tours, which would be perfect if it weren’t for the fact that she may have accidentally just burned down the forest she depends upon for her fledgling business. And it would figure that Rob Raine, the man of her dreams, also happens to be the fire investigator hot on the case.

Can Jen find the strength to fight the accusations that could cost her everything? Or will she run again, ignoring the sparks that fly between her and Rob, and torching her chances at a happily ever after?

Find out in this small town contemporary romance, the third standalone book in the Blueberry Springs series.

Excerpt

Rob bent over, digging in the cabinet under the sink for Lord only knew what. Jen stood with her back against the shower door, admiring his firm ass. All that hiking through forests had certainly guaranteed a very nice view for her at the moment. She kind of hoped his you-know-what didn’t fall out of his boxers with all that bending over and digging around. Although she wouldn’t mind if it did. But if something did pop out of his shorts to give her the ol’ eyeball she was pretty sure with all this alcohol partying its way through her bloodstream and causing her synapses to misfire, she wouldn’t be able to handle seeing his you-know-what dance on out without the temptation to…never mind.
Eyes up front. Clean, pure thoughts. White bunnies. Unicorns. Rainbows.
Definitely stop staring at his nice buttocks.
They may have assaulted people together tonight, but he was still hands off.
God, she wished he could be hands-on.
But she didn’t think the courts would take kindly to her sleeping with the investigator. Even if his job was done. He could still be called in to testify. Testify what a hottie she was with her clothes off.
Wow. This alcohol…it must have been the Sex on the Beach shots. Infused with something hormonal because she really wanted to reach up his short’s leg and…and do a lot more than wait to see if she’d become a passive participant in a game of boxer-short-peek-a-boo.
Oh, man. She needed to lock down her brain. And maybe cuff herself to the toilet while she was at it. Hmmm. Cuffs…
No. No. No.
Unicorns. Bunnies. Rainbows. Definitely not bunnies and unicorns doing it on a rainbow.
She just about leapt into the shower to spray herself down with cold water when Rob turned, flashing her nothing but thigh above his tan line, breaking an ice pack from a first aid kit. Jesus. He would have made a good doctor. Those capable hands breaking the inner bag, giving the ice pack a vigorous shake, and now bringing her closer so he could gently apply it. What if she fainted? She could faint right now. Just sort of collapse into his arms. Let him catch her. Maybe he could nurse her back to health without any clothes on.
"What did you do?" Amusement caused a lilt in his voice as he held the pack against the goose egg on her forehead.
"I tackled Cody into the wall when the bouncer came to his rescue. I may have underestimated the physics involved in taking someone down."
He laughed, tipping his head back to let the rich sound swell over her like fresh rain.
She brushed the ice pack away, feeling the chill slipping too deep. She took the wet cloth off the vanity and dabbed at Rob’s lower lip. That bouncer had a hell of a swing.
Rob leaned against the vanity, straddling her between his legs, bringing them eye to eye. He rested a warm hand on her waist, the heat of his grip traveling through her tank top, surrounding her in warmth, protection, and maybe…maybe something else she dared not think about.
She let out a low chuckle. Who would have thought a bar brawl would break the final layer of ice between them? Let him draw her in closer. Their eyes met, holding conversations she couldn’t figure out. The timing, it was still off, wasn’t it? Behind their desire, they were both holding back, afraid. Unable.
She sighed, resisting the urge to brush her chest against Rob in longing. He brushed away her hand with the cloth, pulling her closer. He pulled out her ponytail, running his fingers through her hair to isolate the purple streak. "Why purple?"
She shrugged. "Why not?"
"I like it," he said, wrapping it around his finger. He gave a gentle tug, pulling her face closer to his.
Gray eyes. Warm. Flecks of blue. Hope.
His lips hovered against hers. Not a kiss, but much more than a breath check. She closed her eyes and rested a hand against his cheek, enjoying the moment of being close. Breathing each other in. Not having to progress to anything. Just being. Knowing someone was there.
She pushed her lips a fraction closer, kissing him softly.
This.
This was what she had been missing. What she had wanted all along.
His lips explored hers. Warm and moist. Welcoming.
A real kiss.
A rock your world, weaken the knees kiss.
A kiss for which all future kisses would be measured against. She collapsed into his warmth, the comfort of his body penetrating every wall she’d erected over the years.
So simple. So innocent. And yet so much understanding gently flowing between them.
A tentative, soft connection that ran deep.
She slowly opened her eyes, leaning back.
No future kisses would match its intimacy, tenderness, and trust.
And she wanted more.
They pulled together again, her hands running through his soft, short hair as she kissed him gently, telling his soul she could be patient. His arms encircled her waist, rubbed her back, brought her closer, joined their body heat.
She placed a hand on his chest, arching away, breathless. Inside she was disheveled, everything out of place. She wanted too much. Too much of what she couldn't have.

Interview with Stuart Reardon

Hi, Stu. First let me say, I am beyond thrilled that you agreed to be the face of my character, Colt Harris for the cover of Finding Home. As I've told you, I saw a picture of you a couple of years ago and the whole character of Colt sprang to life from that, which is something that I've never done before. I've always had the character in my head and then searched for someone who fit. I am beyond thrilled that the very man who inspired the character has agreed to represent him on my cover. So, thank you, from the bottom of my heart for that. Thank you. I'm very flattered I was always the character in your book. And thank you for choosing me for the cover, I really hope the book does great for you :) x I know that you are first and foremost a rugby player and athlete. What made you decide to go into modeling? I sort of just fell into modeling. I think being in sports and in good shape fits really well with modeling, and fitness modeling in particular. Being in professional sports already had me in great shape, so stepping into fitness modeling was an easy transition. What's the most unusual pose you've been asked to do? No really unusual poses to date that stick out in my mind. Some of the action shots are tough as it takes time to capture the right shot, so may have to do the same thing over and over again. Another question I know everyone is always asking: is there any particular meaning behind your awesome tattoo? Do the symbols represent something, or was it just a design you said, Hey, that looks cool, I want that? I got my tattoo when I was recovering from a really tough Achilles tendon injury. I had a couple of operations to finally get it right, so it was during that time that I worked out the design with the tattooist and he did the magic. I have always been interested in Tribal designs and culture, so the tattoo reflects that, and it reminds me of that really tough 14 month period in my life: the really low points which made me strong and determined, and a high point when I finally got back fit to play super league again after 14 months of recovery and rehab. I've heard tattoos are addictive. Will you get more or are you done? Yes, tattoos are very addictive, I think I may get some more in the future but I've not decided yet. I know you come to the States for modeling jobs, where all have you been? Yes, I've been to a couple of places in the States, NYC, Miami and LA. Where have you not gone but would like to? I would love to visit Vegas. America is a huge country so I'm sure there are loads of beautiful places to visit. For me, because I'm a Native Texan, I have to ask: have you been to Texas? I have not but I would love to visit Texas :) How does it feel to be a muse for a character in a book? I'm very flattered to be your muse for Finding Home. It's a pleasure to be liked :) When I was looking through pictures of you on the Internet, I came across one where you were holding a guitar. I grew up a Band Geek and love music of all kinds and try to incorporate it in my books when I can. That picture inspired a whole scene in the book, where Colt is stressed about something and picks up his guitar and is idly playing while talking to his girlfriend, Sarah. Do you play? Yes, I play the guitar, not really well, though, I'm still learning. I'm a beginner so it's a working process. Later in the scene, he sings to her. Do you sing? I try to sing but I'm not the best at that either. I need to practice more {Ann: I'm sure all the ladies are feeling what I am right now: *swoon*!!! Stu singing! *sigh* ;)} OK, now let's get personal. Are you ready for this? I'll make it as painless as possible. Lightning round: Are you right or left-handed? Right What's your favorite food? Steak or chicken Favorite drink (non-alcoholic) Sparkling water Favorite drink (alcoholic) Corona Favorite car? Land Rover Sport Motorcycles? Harley Davidson Favorite color? Black Favorite movie? Anchorman Favorite TV show? Walking Dead/Game of Thrones Favorite actor? Gerard Butler Favorite actress? Eva Mendes Favorite type of music: rock, pop, techno, metal, country, rap, hip hop? A bit of everything Favorite song? Kings of Leon - Use Somebody Favorite band/group? Kings of Leon Favorite singer? Ed Sheering Snow in the mountains/sun on the beach? Sun on the beach everyday Cats/dogs/neither? Neither; I don't have time for pets Nike/UnderArmor/Other? Nike Favorite sport OTHER than rugby? Boxing Favorite team? North Wales Crusaders - My Team, ha Favorite American sport? (if any) American football Favorite American team? (if any) NY Jets Boxing or MMA? Boxing, but I like both, as both are really tough sports Watching TV, snuggle together or give you your space? Watching TV or movies: cuddles with Em Walking with your girlfriend, hold her hand, your hand on her back, arm around her shoulders or waist, or don't touch at all? Holding hands or no touch at all Would your girlfriend say you are a Pushover or Alpha male? It's 50/50 I guess. We have give and take or it wouldn't work. I'm an Alpha male but a pushover if she's upset Boxers/briefs/commando? (lol, kidding! You don't have to answer that!) All 3, it depends on the situation :) Thank you so much for taking time to indulge the silly writer! And thank you, again, for what I'm sure by now is the millionth time I've said it, but thank you for being so great with all this and for sharing your time and your picture with me and my readers! You're welcome anytime :) x

Author Interview - Jayme and Jody Morse

Hi to all my fellow book lovers,
I am super excited that my first author interview is with Jayme and Jody Morse, they are the authors of some of my favorite books! I am totally having a fan girl moment! =)

So I have asked them a few questions so that we are able to get to know them a little more. If you have not read any books by them I recommend them all to you!

Ways to fine Jayme and Jody Morse:
Here is a link to their facebook page - Jayme and Jody's Facebook Page
Here is a link to their books on Amazon - Amazon
Here is a link to their books on Barnes and Noble - Barnes and Noble

My facebook page: Book Lover Amber

Here we go:

1. How long have you two been writing?
Jayme: I’ve always written. I remember writing my first novel, which was also about werewolves, at 15. It may still be buried in my closet somewhere, I’m not even sure! I never thought we would end up publishing one day.
Jody: I started writing Baby-sitter’s club fan fiction when I was maybe seven or eight and didn’t even know what fan fiction was! We didn’t start writing books with the intention to actually publish until about 2008 or 2009, though.

2. Whats the age difference between you two?
Jayme: Four years. I'm 23 and Jody's 27.

3. What inspired both of you to start in the indie world?
Jayme: We never really even thought about going the traditional route.
Jody: Self-publishing gave us the creative control that we wanted.

4. What was your first book published? Did it sell well right away?
Our first book was Kiss of Death, the first book in the Briar Creek Vampires series. It took a few months and a few cover changes for it to find an audience.

5. Out of all your series which is Jody's favorite and which is Jayme's favorite?
Jayme: I think both of us preferred the Howl series for a long time. But with each new series, we get attached to new characters. Some of our favorites that we’ve written have yet to be published, so we’re very excited about what’s to come!
Jody: Howl is really close to our hearts, but I actually had a lot more fun writing the Koto Chronicles series. It was a lot of fun bringing the characters (Chance and Hunter, especially) to life.

6. How do you two share the writing process?
Jayme: It depends on the book and series. We always start by plotting and brainstorming together, and then we usually write every other chapter or every other paragraph, or every other sentence. Or if one of us gets stuck, the other takes the reigns.
Jody: Writing together leads to arguments sometimes, lol. For example, I wanted to kill Colby off in the first book of the Howl series, but Jayme convinced me that we needed to keep him. Now he’s one of our favorite characters in the Howl series. Let’s just say I end up telling her that she was right a lot.
Jayme: She makes it sound like I hold it over her head, but I don’t. She does listen to me about our characters’ futures now, though, lol.

7. Are you full time writers?
Yes

8. Can you tell yalls fans something none of us know about yall? Something fun or interesting?
Jody: In Where I Belong, Savannah’s obsession with country music is based on my own obsession, lol.
Jayme: And the part about Danielle thinking every country song was Blake Shelton? That’s actually a conversation Jody and I have had many times. I think almost every country song by a male musician is Blake Shelton, for some reason. I do like country music, though.

9. Can you tell us what the Morse girls have planned for future books?
Jayme: We have a lot of new adult romances planned for the near future. We’ll also be releasing the first book in a new paranormal series in April or May, and our first dystopian sometime this year, too. I’m really excited to write in a new genre.
Jody: I’m so, SO hyped for everyone to read the new paranormal series. It has vampires, werewolves, witches, fairies, demons, mermaids, etc. It’s been a lot of fun to write.

10. Do you two plan to write together til the end? Or do yall ever plan to branch out individually?
Jayme: We’ll be writing together until the end.
Jody: We wouldn’t have it any other way!

I want to thank both of these lovely ladies for being my first author interview! I had way too much fun doing this and I hope you all will take the time to go and like their page, or buy one of their books. I don't believe you will be disappointed. I can't wait to see what comes next from these girls. They just released a new book that is on my to read list, A Girl and Her Wolf....you should read the Howl series first probably.
Here is the link to this book - A Girl and Her Wolf

MY REVIEW: I loved being inside Colby and Emma's head. I have liked their relationship from the start...before Emma was even a wolf herself. I felt bad for Colby all along because seemed to be the nerdy one but he was so knowledgeable and sweet. I am glad he was given the second chance at finding a mate, and I don't think there could have been a better mate for him. I liked that Bennett seemed to add some excitement along the way as well. Well done ladies. I loved it!
